Celebration of the world's longest station seat

On Tuesday 30th September 2025, we held our Railway 200 event of the year - the celebration of the world's longest station seat !

The seat which is said to be 139 metres long is situated on platform 1 of Scarborough station and was built in the late 1800s to cope with the increasing amount of passengers and excursion trains to the seaside.

Scarborough 6th form joined us to see how many people we could fit on the seat and we managed to squeeze on 239 !
