We are very proud of our station adoption groups who have done extremely well in the Yorkshire in Bloom awards again. In the railway stations category Bridlington, Cottingham and Hutton Cranswick have all won gold awards, with Bridlington being awarded the category winner ! On Saturday 19th September, YCCRP committee member David represented us at Yorkshire Coast 1779's celebrations of the 247th anniversary of the battle of Flamborough Head. The day was a great success with lots going on including a Sea Cadets Parade and the unveiling of a new information board.

We took part in Heritage Open Days on Saturday 12th September with our stand at Bridlington station. Our volunteers gave out freebies and railway information, including a new leaflet about the short lived branch line to Bridlington Harbour.

We sponsored the Old Parcels Offices Sunday Best Exhibition which ran from 5th to 27th September at their studios on Scarborough Station. Part of Heritage Open Days and the Scarborough 400 celebrations, the exhibition brought the story of Scarborough’s seaside heritage vividly to life.

On Saturday 5th September we had a stand at Bridlington Model Railway Show. Thanks to Roger for staffing our stand all day. He had a busy day promoting rail travel and selling Barrow Boy books.

Earlier in August we took a group of families from the Aim Higher Charity on a train trip to the seaside. This was the first time on a train for many of these children so the supported journey helped them and their parents gain confidence in finding their way around stations and using the trains.

Inspired by what the Hereward CRP did last year, we produced eye catching posters summarizing our annual report and achievements from 2025. Thanks to Northern providing poster cases, these are now on display at all their stations, plus a large one at Hull Paragon thanks to TPE.

Community Rail is all about making new friendships and connections and sharing ideas, so we were delighted to host our friends from East Lothian Community Rail Partnership and Rail Action Group, East of Scotland (RAGES) on their visit to the Yorkshire Coast earlier this week. We held a Station Gala on 1st August to celebrate Yorkshire Day! There were model railways, model boats, food and craft stalls and performances by the talented Coastal Voices Community Choir.

We had a great day at Driffield Show on 22nd July supporting our friends and colleagues at Humber and Wolds Rural Action, Network Rail, BTP and Northern on their stands and helping out as stewards at the station and shuttle bus stops.

St Martin's Scouts Group (Hull) Beavers enjoyed a rail safety educational trip from Hull to Brough and back on the evening of Thursday 2nd July. Thanks to support from Northern and TransPennine Express Trains the Beavers learned how to use trains and stations safely, and the experience will help them earn their 'Platforms for Change' badge. Inspiration, the Railway 200 travelling exhibition train, visited Hull Station 5 - 7 June and Scarborough Station 20 - 22 June. We were successful in applying to be in the partner zone carriage for both of these weekends and we put in 120 volunteer hours between us staffing our stand. We spoke to hundreds of people and had lots of interesting conversations as we spread the word about the Yorkshire Coast Line and Community Rail.

Students at East Riding College have produced some fantastic posters advertising places to visit on the Yorkshire Coast Line. This is a project that they have been working on in partnership with Northern and the posters are displayed at Beverley Railway Station for all to enjoy.

Hutton Cranswick Cubs visited Hull Paragon station on Monday 16th June as part of Rail Safety Week. They took a ride on a Northern service from Hutton Cranswick to Hull where they were reminded on being safe around the railway environment. The Cubs were also given the great experience of being shown a driving cab on a TransPennine Express class 185. Two new pieces of artwork were unveiled at Beverley Station during Community Rail Week. These eye catching pieces of work have been created by the talented students of Hymers College who have been working in partnership with Northern.

On Wednesday 3rd June we joined with the Bishop Line CRP, Esk Valley CRP, LNER and TPE for a Community Rail Showcase event on York Station. We spoke to many people about Community Rail and highlighted the through service to the Yorkshire Coast and great connections with LNER. On 4th June we ran a networking train trip for community workers and volunteers from Driffield.

On Monday 18th May we took a group of Beavers from Hutton Cranswick Scout Group on a rail safety trip to Bridlington to teach them how to use stations and trains safely.
