Railway 200 train
Inspiration, the Railway 200 travelling exhibition train, visited Hull Station 5 - 7 June and Scarborough Station 20 - 22 June. We were successful in applying to be in the partner zone carriage for both of these weekends and we put in 120 volunteer hours between us staffing our stand. We spoke to hundreds of people and had lots of interesting conversations as we spread the word about the Yorkshire Coast Line and Community Rail.

New artwork by East Riding College
Students at East Riding College have produced some fantastic posters advertising places to visit on the Yorkshire Coast Line. This is a project that they have been working on in partnership with Northern and the posters are displayed at Beverley Railway Station for all to enjoy.

Cubs trip to Hull
Hutton Cranswick Cubs visited Hull Paragon station on Monday 16th June as part of Rail Safety Week. They took a ride on a Northern service from Hutton Cranswick to Hull where they were reminded on being safe around the railway environment. The Cubs were also given the great experience of being shown a driving cab on a TransPennine Express class 185. Community Rail Week 2026
On Wednesday 3rd June we joined with the Bishop Line CRP, Esk Valley CRP, LNER and TPE for a Community Rail Showcase event on York Station. We spoke to many people about Community Rail and highlighted the through service to the Yorkshire Coast and great connections with LNER. On 4th June we ran a networking train trip for community workers and volunteers from Driffield.

Beavers Rail Safety Trip
On Monday 18th May we took a group of Beavers from Hutton Cranswick Scout Group on a rail safety trip to Bridlington to teach them how to use stations and trains safely. At Bridlington station we talked to them about our barrow boy statue and tiled map, then YCCRP member Ben, who is also a Scout leader and a train driver for TPE, gave them an engaging and interesting rail safety talk. Forget me not train
On Tuesday 19th May we put on our first 'Forget Me Not' train with Bridlington Right Minds Dementia Peer Support Group. This initiative came about following inspiration from our friends on the Esk Valley Railway and The Bentham Line who both do amazing work on their lines for people living with dementia. Tourism Network visit our line
On 9th April, it was our pleasure to host Community Rail Network's tourism network group meeting. The Easter Bunny had a fantastic time on our Easter Special Train on Saturday 4th April, spreading joy on the railway with his team of helpers. Andrew wins a Northern Lights Award
Congratulations to all the winners of Northern's Northern Lights Awards. These awards recognise staff who go the extra mile for customers, communities and each other. Network Rail crossing safety event
On Tuesday 10th March our volunteers supported Network Rail at their railway crossing safety awareness pop-up event at the foot crossing north of Cottingham station. The event was about educating people on how to use foot crossings safely. People are often surprised at how quiet approaching trains are and long it takes them to stop and don't realise they are putting themselves in danger.

Try the Train
We completed our latest Try the Train rail confidence building project on 18th February with a trip to York. We set off from Cottingham station and incorporated a change of trains at Hull to give the participants experience of finding the right platform and using the train information boards. Brew Monday 2026
On Monday 19th January we held a Brew Monday coffee morning on Bridlington station. We were joined by Network Rail, our invited guests and train passengers who were using the station. Talented local accoustic duo 'Three rabbits in a raincoat' provided live music. It was good to have a coffee and chat and catch up with colleagues and friends while listening to some great music and raising money for MIND.

New artwork for Driffield station
Three beautiful pieces of artwork have been installed at Driffield station. They were produced by talented year 12 students from Driffield School and Sixth Form. They have been installed at the exits from Driffield station to welcome people to the town as they leave the station. The project was led by station adopters Driffield in Bloom who worked collaboratively with the school. We (the YCCRP) were proud to sponsor and fund it.

We have been shortlisted!
We are very excited to hear that we have got 7 shortlisted entries in the Community Rail Awards this year ! Our longest station seat event and our Railway 200 exhibition have both been shortlisted for a Railway 200 legacy award! Santa Special 2025
We held our popular Santa Special event on Saturday 6th December. This year for the first time we included Brough, Hessle and Ferriby stations and started on the 10:14 from Brough. This train was packed full with families travelling to see Santa, thanks to the excellent publicity and involvement of the parish and town councils. After a short break at Hull, Santa and helpers boarded the 11:21 to Scarborough and carried on giving out chocolates and mince pies to the passengers
